Lee Swanson, AIA
Lee has been with Richärd Kennedy Architects for nearly two decades. As a Principal at the studio, he believes that the connection between art and architecture is critical to create inspiring and meaningful spaces and often works with local and regional artists to integrate art into the built environment. In his role as Senior Architectural Designer, he has worked on all scales of projects and project types including academic and public libraries, higher education facilities, and embassies and consulates for the U.S. State Department. He has extensive experience in programming and planning, and is integral in developing the conceptual design, aesthetic character and sustainable strategies that become the framework to specify materials, develop detailing and integrate systems for complex building typologies.
Lee is an active member of the American Library Association and contributes his expertise as a Senior Library Planner with the firm, working with communities and clients to explore forward-thinking library programs and design solutions. Lee is also a member of the American Institute of Architects and has been a driving member helping to develop educational programs on forward-thinking construction methods for industry professionals. He is an advocate for sustainable design and is a LEED Accredited Professional.
