Originally from Southern California, Derek grew up with interests in both the arts and sciences. Before joining RKA in September of 2020, Derek worked in high-end residential design in Manhattan, NYC and Laguna Beach, CA where he was also a part of the AIA Orange County Design Awards Committee. As a Designer, Derek works diligently to support the project team in all phases including research, conceptual design, spatial programming, 3D and parametric modeling, rendering, and construction documents. He looks forward to continuing to build on his knowledge and skills through experience and added responsibility as he works towards licensure. Outside of the office, Derek enjoys movies, traveling, and spending time with his fiancé and their Dalmatian.
